Top 7 Age Defying Products – You May Already Have

Forget the Botox and all the expensive skin care products that make promises to rejuvenate your skin, and make you look years younger. I’ve tried them all, and the truth is nothing will take away wrinkles and make you look twenty again, except Botox. However, if you use Botox, you will have to continue with this course, and it can be costly.

I personally, prefer wrinkles and a natural glow compared to looking plastic. A few wrinkles are nothing to worry about. They don’t make you unattractive, they’re just a part of life.

Around the age of 40, our collagen and elastic tissue have experienced enough damage to really start showing changes in our appearance. However, protecting your skin year-round will greatly reduce the signs of aging. Keeping your skin fresh and healthy is the best way to go, and you can do it yourself for a lot less than you think.

Simple, household items you probably already have can do wonders for your hair, skin, and nails without you having to go to the salon. Not to mention, the cost is nothing compared to most beauty products. I like to keep things simple, so here is my top 7 age defying products that you may already have:

1. Water – Drinking lots of water throughout the day does so much more than keep you hydrated. Those headaches, poor digestion, and the blotchy skin may be the symptoms of not drinking enough water. Hydration is necessary for the removal of waste, the lubrication of joints, the protection of body tissues, and the stabilization of body temperature. You can either drink or eat your water to fill up the cellular tanks. Water is the key to vibrant health and in maintaining strong cells, as long as you don’t over do it.

When your blood gets thick and water-deficient from organs pulling water from it, the blood in turn pulls water from skin cells, according to Dr. Richard Besser, the chief health and medical editor at ABC News. This causes your skin to look dry and your eyes to look darker and sunken. Over time, the condition can age you faster. When your skin is dry, it’s less resilient and elastic, making it prone to wrinkling.

However, drinking enough water will have the opposite effect, and can make your eyes appear clearer, sharper, and definitely brighter. Drinking more water can also take away those dark circles.

By drinking water and hydrating yourself efficiently from the inside will result in fresh looking skin on the outside. You can read more here:  https://www.livestrong.com/article/495609-advantages-of-drinking-water-and-skin-benefits/

2. Vaseline – Petroleum jelly is one of the best moisturizers money can buy, and it only cost a few cents. Generic brands work just as well, but it is important to make sure they are reputable generic brands. Dermatologist like Vaseline because the allergy risk is low, and it’s more effective at treating and preventing dry skin than creams and lotions. Do no use petroleum jelly if you are prone to acne, this would not be a good choice.

Most of the women in my family have been using Vaseline petroleum jelly for decades, and you can really see the difference in the ones who don’t. I have Aunts who are well into their 70s, and I can always tell the ones who use Vaseline. Their face is so bright and perky, you don’t really notice any lines or wrinkles. All you see is soft, glowing skin.

Vaseline is a must for dry, chapped lips! Apply everyday and every night to keep your lips moist, soft, and kissable forever.

3. Coconut Oil – Not just for cooking. Coconut oil has so many benefits to slow the aging process, and cooking with it is certainly one of them. I have used it for many things over the years, including helping my cat grow his fur back. He gets a little over-aggressive with his scratching post. My vet suggested rubbing Coconut oil on the bald spots, and it worked!

Seriously, it is the best lotion for dry skin, and moisturizer for dry hair and scalp. Great for the cuticle area of your nails, and even helps with dental care. So basically, Coconut oil can be used for cooking, hair, skin, pets, teeth, and gums, just to name a few. However, it has even more benefits for our health than it does for beauty. I cannot even begin to list all the benefits of Coconut oil here, but if you would like to learn more, this book is a good read: The Coconut Oil Miracle

4. Yoga – Any, and all yoga is good for you. Yoga helps you to gain flexibility, tone your body, and promotes better sleep. Getting proper rest is the best defense against age. People sleep less as they get older, but that shows in their appearance. Besides feeling tired all the time, the eyes are puffy, have dark circles, and the face hangs low. We’re fighting gravity after forty, and yoga provides us with the stamina we need, while offering a relaxing, meditative state as well. It really depends on the style of yoga. Some poses are designed to create energy, while other poses are made to relax and de-stress you. This is why I love Yoga Burn!

Zoe Bray-Cotton

Yoga Burn is made for women (sorry guys), and created by Zoe Bray-Cotton. She truly delivers a workout that is designed to tighten and tone the body. It is a quick pace for a yoga practice, and it also includes cardio and weight-training exercises throughout. After forty, it is important to include all three practices to your routine. We’re looking at longevity now. If you want to continue to live an active lifestyle, I’m afraid you have to earn it. On the upside, you will look and feel great, so it’s definitely worth it!

It is only $47 and you can download it right away and use the beginner course today. Your hard copy will arrive by mail shortly after. I strongly advise anyone to start with the Beginner course. This sets the tone for the higher levels you can achieve. There are three phases you can progress to, and each has three different workout sessions, so you will never get tired of the same old routine. There is a Foundational Flow, then Transitional Flow, and last is, the Mastery Flow. I also advise you to go at your own pace. It’s not a race, and can be painful if you do too much at once.  The idea is to spend one month with each phase. I remember being sore for days in the beginning of each phase, but that’s how you know it’s working!

My favorite bonus video is the Tranquility Flow. It only takes 15 minutes and will relieve any stress or tension you may have built up throughout your day, and leave you feeling relaxed and ready for a good nights sleep.

5. Tea Bags – Prevent puffy eyes. Keep two in the fridge sealed in a plastic bag. After I shower, I place them in the freezer for about 5 minutes. Then play some meditation music, and lay down. Place the cold tea bags over your eyes and just relax for 5-10 minutes. This is so refreshing! The tea is not what keeps your eyes from puffing up, but the coldness does. Cucumbers are also helpful, but tea bags work best for me.

6. Meditation – Sitting still and quieting the mind is not as easy as it sounds. It is challenging for most of us. I’m still working on this, but turning off the phone, television, music, and computer does bring me a sense of peace and comfort. Almost like entering a strange, new land that time forgot about. It is rewarding, but like most new activities, the more you try it, the better it gets.

7. Ors Olive Oil Sheen Nourishing Spray or lotion – Really keeps hair soft, strong, and full of body. I spray this on my hair the night before I plan to wash it. I spray it from roots to the end of my hair, and then brush to make sure it is evenly distributed. The next morning, I wash and go. Love it! My hair stylist always comments on how healthy my hair is. I don’t share this secret with her, because I like to keep her guessing.
